Murder: Be the King

36.5k

Murder: Be the King, also searched as Murder: To Kill or Not to Kill, is a one-button timing game about a repeating royal power struggle. Approach the king from behind, hold to prepare an attack, and lower the weapon before the king catches you looking suspicious. A successful assassination puts your character on the throne and reverses the challenge. Watch the person following behind, turn at the right moment, and catch an attack before it lands. New characters and comic outcomes make each attempt part of the same assassin-to-king cycle.

Murder: Be the King

Murder: Be the King Game Description

A successful assassination puts your character on the throne and reverses the challenge. Watch the person following behind, turn at the right moment, and catch an attack before it lands. New characters and comic outcomes make each attempt part of the same assassin-to-king cycle.

How to Play Murder: Be the King

As the assassin, hold the mouse button, screen, or action key to raise the weapon and prepare an attack.
Release immediately when the king begins to look back so the weapon is lowered before you are caught.
Fill the attack action at a safe moment to remove the king and claim the throne.
As the new king, watch the movement of the follower and turn around when an assassination attempt is being prepared.
Continue catching attackers and discover different character outcomes while trying to extend the reign.

Take the crown by completing a well-timed assassination without being caught, then remain king by detecting each attacker before the next attempt reaches you.

Frequently Asked Questions about Murder: Be the King games

How do you play Murder: Be the King?

Hold the action to prepare an assassination while approaching from behind, then release if the king looks back. After taking the throne, turn around at the right moment to catch the next attacker.

Is Murder: To Kill or Not to Kill the same game?

The alternate phrase is commonly used for the same one-button king-and-assassin timing game. This page uses the title Murder: Be the King.

Why does the assassin get caught?

The king caught the weapon raised during a look back. Release as soon as the turn begins, then wait for another safe opening instead of forcing the attack.

How do you survive longer as the king?

Watch the follower instead of turning at a fixed rhythm. The useful moment is when the attacker commits to raising a weapon, not simply whenever the character moves closer.
